The emulsifier is based on Glyceryl Stearate, a biodegradable, safe ingredient that makes your skin softer and smoother and improves the texture of the product. Glyceryl stearate is a naturally derived fatty acid that is used as a thickener and emollient in various cosmetics and skincare products. Whilst the main function of glyceryl stearate is to improve the texture and sensory feel, it also helps to hydrate and protect the skin, giving your skin a glow.

Glyceryl stearate, also called glycerol monostearate, can be found naturally in the human body. When it is synthetically produced, it is made by reacting glycerin with stearic acid, a natural fatty acid derived from vegetable oil. In fact, stearic acid is one of the most common saturated fatty acids found in nature. Glyceryl stearate also has benefits to the skin, improving hydration and supporting the Natural Moisturising Factors found in the skin. These benefits are all due to the glycerol component of glyceryl stearate.

The principal emollient in the formulation is an ester made from a fatty acid chain and lactic acid. It creates a soft, pleasant, smooth skin feel. Due to the presence of the lactic acid radical in the ester it has superior moisturising and skin renewing properties compared to other emollients.
